  4. The Icon got you! Good!

  7. This file contains last minute notes and updates concerning
  8. TopForm(tm).  As we all know, with a new software release, such as Top
  9. Form(tm), there are bound to be changes in the program and
  10. documentation as time goes by.  We will make updates and "news" notes
  11. available to new users as they become available.  Please take a moment
  12. and fill out the registration card to facilitate this (THANKS!).

  15. 512K Users:
  16.  
  17. You will notice that TopForm(tm) Version 2.00 is several 'K' larger than 
  18. 1.00.  If you are using this program on a 512K machine, please be aware 
  19. that the program is very close to the memory limit.  In most cases you 
  20. should have no problems running in 512K, but if you 'Resident' commands 
  21. or open windows (ie multitask), then you may expierence one of the follow-
  22. ing errors:

  24. 1) Device not available.              (While running TopForm(tm))
  25. 2) Error 7.                           (When loading TopForm(tm))
  26.

  28. You can correct this problem by one of the following:
  29.  
  30. A) Boot from the TopForm(tm) disk as it comes.
  31. B) Remove resident commands from your startup sequence.
  32. C) Don't try to multitask when using TopForm(tm).
  33. D) Close all windows including the TopForm disk window,
  34.    before running TopForm(tm).
  35. E) Disconnect extra drives. (3rd or 4th disk drives)
  36. F) Auto boot straight into TopForm(tm).  (See our startup-sequence file)
  37. G) Get more RAM.  (Internal memory)

  39. We have tested TopForm(tm) on a 512K Amiga 500 and Amiga 1000 with two
  40. drives.  You should have no problems unless you are doing some of the 
  41. above.

  44. Printer Drivers:
  45.  
  46. At this time we are trying to provide as many printer drivers as
  47. possible.  Very few of you out there should have to create your own
  48. drivers.  Many printers contain several emulations.  Try several of the
  49. drivers before trying to create your own.  We have a bulletin board,
  50. available to registered users, where we will post new printer drivers
  51. as they become available.

  54. PostScript Driver:
  55.  
  56. For Version 2.00 of Top Form(tm) we have a non-alterable PostScript
  57. printer driver.  If you are using a PostScript compatible printer you
  58. will not be able to add attributes of your own at this time.  We
  59. apologize for this, but feel the available attributes will be adequate
  60. for most.  PostScript is such a different animal compared to other
  61. printers it almost needs an output program of it's own.  We are
  62. currently working on a method for you to access the internal
  63. dictionaries, it should be available soon.

  66. The Filter Program:

  68. The filter program was added as an after thought, for those who have
  69. no other method of removing field and record delimiters.  You will
  70. notice it is very Spartan, but it gets the job done.  This is not a
  71. search and replace type program, it is for taking data base files and
  72. converting them into straight ASCII sequential file format.  The output
  73. file created from the Filter program will have an extension of
  74. ".merge".  The original file will be left intact.
